The importance of being Ernest

When you enter a hall filled with chilly air and pleasant music, you might expect some group of oldies each with an instrument and a lady in abnormally decorated Saree, ready to explore the classical world of music. In contrary, I witnessed a colorful play with people with immense capacity to bring toughest things on screen. First time I saw Evam and I was so much impressed with everything they did. It was really a super cool show. At first, the lights were not on and we got confused, where to sit. Thanks to the pretty girl who help my hand and made me comfortable even before i took my seat. You guys rock in hospitality :) Lets see about the play.

Play : The importance of Being Ernest

Log line : Two friends, love two girls who are cousin of each other and the name Ernest is liked by the girls so much. How the confusion of having the same name Ernest is solved and how the friends discover the blood relation between them , is interestingly narrated.

Coming to the play, it started in a very delightful manner, but with less pace. With slapstick comedies, Karthik(Algernon) and the other biggie(John Worthing / Ernest) tied up the audience. The team in the backstage must also be very much experienced in making the alterations in the sets. I was really wondering, how these guys made such different arrangements for every scene in no time. The garden at Manor house in the sets looked pleasant.

Since its a plot created by Oscar Wilde, we are all accustomed to it. I think they matched up to the pace of the book in the second half. The artists really lived upto the expectations and reflected the characters of the book to the perfection. In the book, only few people would like Cecily Cardew. In contrast, a damsel played the role. I liked the play very much and she was a partly reason. The Majestic Lady Bracknell did steal the show sometimes. The diary reference scene between the two ladies, Cecily and Fairfax was designed in a cool fashion.

Plus .s

* John Worthing and his facial expressions
* Lady Bracknell and her Majestic jokes
* Karthik (Algernon) with smart beard
* Settings
* The conclusion speech was really cool and extra dose comedy for all on the stage and off the stage
* THE BIG PLUS IS CECILY :)

Negative .s

* Acoustics
* Poor Gwendolen Fairfax and her expressions
* Lack of innovation

Rating :

6+/10
